Worship at St. James’

Worship is the heart of our common life at St. James. Our liturgy is rooted in the Catholic heritage of the Book of Common Prayer. Complete service booklets are published seasonally.

We welcome all baptized Christians to the Lord’s Table, and children are strongly encouraged to receive Holy Communion with their families.

Our 8 a.m. Holy Eucharist is a said service in the modern language of Rite 2. While this is our more quiet and simple service, you can still count on lively discussion at the coffee hour that follows.

Our 10 a.m. Solemn Eucharist is a sung Rite 2 service with liturgical music, hymns, incense, lights and bells. Our enthusiastic volunteer choir sings on the church’s major feasts and other special occasions.

Sermons are preached from the aisle and aim to be both lively and learned, connecting the spirit of the Gospel with the lives and hearts of worshipers.

We celebrate all the major Feasts of the Christian Year. Holy Week and the Great Vigil of Easter are especially memorable for all who experience them.

Holy Baptism and Marriage are arranged with the Vicar and demand preparation and a commitment to the Church and the Christian life.
